Our Approach to Workshops
When we hold a workshop for a team, our top priority is to facilitate a conversation characterized by openness, vulnerability, and deep listening.
Because of this, we structure our workshops so that participants are focused on learning about one another. Often, the Enneagram is utilized as a catalyst for this process and a framework to facilitate conversation about and within a team.
In our workshops, we do not do long lectures, offer formulaic systems, impose structure or use long slide decks because we believe those would distract from the conversation we are attempting to create.
We prioritize:
Space
During our workshops, we create a space for the team to have a different kind of conversation. This conversation aims to identify the habitual patterns of relating, communicating, and decision making. We provide the space to acknowledge those patterns and identify how they are and are not working for the team.
An important element of these conversations is fostering vulnerability and openness between team members. Open communication is a prerequisite to the trust, connection, and effectiveness that teams need.
Curiosity
Our facilitators work to cultivate curiosity: Who is seated around the table? How does each team member work best? What priorities do they bring to the team’s projects? What does all of this mean for who we are and how we should operate together as a team?
We aim to create a space of curiosity and openness in order to facilitate better communication, improved processes and clarity in decision making. We reflect what we hear from team members and ask questions to lead to deeper understanding.
Vulnerability
Often, our workshops invite vulnerable conversation, especially when the Enneagram is utilized. The vulnerability we are aiming for is the level of vulnerability necessary to work effectively with one another. Because of this, a workshop may ask participants to reveal more of themselves than they would on a typical workday.
Our facilitators invite participants to share the level of vulnerability necessary to be a better teammate. For some people this may feel like more than they normally share, and for others it may be less than they normally share. While vulnerability means putting yourself at risk, that risk can lead to the rewards of being better understood.
