Do the Inner Work

We believe that growing as human beings is profoundly worthwhile, and that growth as people and leaders requires us to do the inner work.

But, what exactly is inner work?

A profound paradox exists around the human capacity for self-awareness. In general, people default to thinking that we know ourselves well. And yet, we still regularly and consistently encounter things about ourselves that take us by surprise and can interrupt our progress toward personal goals, professional collaborations, and interpersonal connections.

Inner work is embracing this paradox and engaging with it in a manner that allows us to see ourselves more completely and hear ourselves more clearly.

When we engage in the inner work, we intentionally spend time with our thoughts, feelings, and desires in order to deepen our awareness of who we are and how we show up in the world. By gaining better insight and understanding into our own selves, we are better prepared to show up intentionally and engage effectively with the humans around us.

Why inner work matters for leaders

Leaders, founders, and high-level professionals understand that the personal is professional. We cannot cleanly divide our lives into two insulated categories. Rather, we bring the same raw, internal material to our work that we do to our families, our friendships, and every other aspect of our lives.

From this vantage point, the growth of the individual person is necessary for the growth of the person in their role. And, the growth of teams—and the effective collaboration of team members— is built on the growth of the individuals involved.

Our approach to inner work

We work with founders, executives, and team members from a variety of organizational sizes. We utilize 1:1 coaching, team workshops, and a range of tools and resources grounded in the framework of the Enneagram, a powerful personality discovery tool that identifies a person’s underlying worldview.

We have served companies ranging from seed stage startups, to venture capital funds, as well as, teams within larger, established organizations.

Because identifying a good fit between coach and client is crucial for an effective working relationship, we maintain a strong team of trained therapists who pair that training with knowledge of the business terrain; our coaches are prepared to meet founders and leaders where they are, to support them as human beings, and to provide professionally relevant insights, guidance, and support.
